All-Electric E-Transit debuts at the CV Show

Our all-electric E-Transit van has made its European public debut at the CV Show in Birmingham, UK – the first chance for businesses to see it in the metal.

To help the new electric version of the world’s best-selling cargo van be just as productive for businesses as the diesel-powered models, we’ve optimised its battery size, range and power to be class-leading – and even added a unique onboard generator for powering tools, kettles, and everything in between.

The actual vehicle is only half the story: its supporting network of charging, FORDLiive maintenance, and driving data systems from Ford Pro are designed to help customers make the best use of our most connected Transit ever. We’re giving live demonstrations to customers at our CV Show stand.

E-Transit will come with a lot of smart new tech, but we’re also offering many of its advanced features on our diesel-powered models too. Transits from Trend series upwards – which currently make up over 60 per cent of sales – will get as standard driver assistance systems designed to spot pedestrians and vehicles to help avoid collisions, and keep the vehicle in lane, 1 adding more security to a van already rated as Gold award-winning by independent vehicle safety authority Euro NCAP.

Busy drivers looking for fuel, their next delivery address or just a coffee will benefit from our all‑new, cloud-connected SYNC 4 system. 2 It can be controlled using voice commands and Amazon Alexa, 3 helping drivers dodge traffic jams or contact customers and managers without taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes from the road.

SYNC 4’s 12-inch colour touchscreen also enables a new 360 Camera, 1 which stitches together several exterior camera views to create a bird’s eye image and help drivers negotiate tight corners or parking spaces. New technology makes getting out of spaces easier too, and can automatically stop the van if drivers reverse towards obstacles or into the path of other road users. 1

E-Transit prototypes are being tested in the real-world by European businesses before volume sales begin in spring 2022.

1 Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. It does not replace safe driving. See Owner’s Manual for details and limitations.

2 Don’t drive while distracted or while using handheld devices. Use voice-operated systems when possible. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.
