Project P1 designer goes head-to-head with Team Fordzilla captain

Earlier this year at virtual Gamescom we unveiled the Team Fordzilla Project P1 concept vehicle; the ultimate virtual racing car designed in collaboration between our designers and the gaming community. Two designs were put forward for the final poll, with 83.8 per cent of followers voting Arturo Ariño’s futuristic design victorious. Close to 250,000 fans were involved throughout the polling process.

As a vehicle designed for gamers, we sent José Iglesias, our Team Fordzilla Spain captain, to Castelloli Circuit in Barcelona to ask Ariño the questions gamers want to know. And obviously we thought they should be racing on a computer game at the same time too.

The Mexican car designer, based in Barcelona, explains the influence of our Ford GT, how the sitting position - it's like a F1 for two people - was important, and how proud he was that video game lovers picked his car as their favorite. The next thing he’s looking forward to seeing is the Team Fordzilla P1 concept in real life – a life-size scale model will be unveiled before the end of 2020.

There’s a special treat for Ariño once the interview is over too as José asks if he wants to race again, but in real life. With no P1 available for the moment, it’s down to the new Puma ST to bring the thrills, with Jan Solans, 2019 WRC Junior Champion, behind the wheel. If this were a computer game, it would be the ultimate bonus level!
