The ultimate road-ready Mustang

We created the Mustang GT3 to take on one of the toughest motor races in the world – the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Now we’ve taken inspiration from that car to create the ultimate road-legal Mustang – the GTD.

Created by the same brains behind the racer, the Mustang GTD features advanced technology not allowed in the motorsport world.

Active aerodynamics enable the driver to move the front and rear spoilers for more speed on the straights and extra downforce through the curves.

Hydraulic suspension means the ride height and suspension stiffness can be adjusted on the move to suit road or track conditions, while a carbon fibre body and magnesium wheels reduce weight to the bare minimum.

Under the bonnet is a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 engine targeting 800 PS – making it the most powerful road-going Mustang ever made by Ford.

The Mustang GTD is also aiming to complete a sub-7-minute lap of the Nürburgring in Germany, regarded by many as the world’s most challenging racetrack.

Underlining just how special the Mustang GTD is, production will include being specially transported to the Multimatic facility in Canada to be handcrafted by the same teams responsible for creating the GT3 racer.

“Mustang GTD shatters every preconceived notion of a supercar. This is a new approach for us. We didn’t engineer a road car for the track, we created a race car for the road. Mustang GTD takes racing technology from our Mustang GT3 race car, wraps it in a carbon fibre Mustang body and unleashes it for the street.”
