Solar plant at Ford Valencia harnesses power of the sun for renewable energy

A new 2.8 megawatt solar power plant at our Valencia factory recently went into operation, using the sun to provide part of the factory’s annual energy demand. The photovoltaic area, that converts solar energy into electricity, is in a non-productive section of the plant covering two zones of solar panels, capable of producing the equivalent power every year to run 1,400 average homes1.

We’re looking to expand the areas of solar panels even further in the near future, targeting to reach close to 10 megawatts in 2024. This is just another step in our commitment to carbon neutrality across our European footprint of facilities and suppliers by 2035.
