We’re making Europe’s best-selling van all-electric

Our Transit Custom is the best-selling van in Europe 1 and now, we’re introducing an all-new, all-electric version, developed to help make businesses more productive and efficient than ever.

The all-new E-Transit Custom was designed from scratch to be an electric vehicle and work with our Ford Pro charging, servicing and management software. That helpful ecosystem makes it easier to get the best out of electric vans, even if you’re new to electrification.

Our all-new van’s cutting-edge battery delivers a targeted range of up to 380 km 2 between recharges, and if you take your van home after work, you can do this overnight using a Ford Pro Charging wallbox to help save time and energy costs. If you need to top up during the day, lab tests suggest that a public fast charger can give you 38 km of extra range in just five minutes.

Last year, vans were worth €786 billion to Europe’s economy; 3 to electrify your business without hurting your bottom line, we engineered E‑Transit Custom with a choice of 100 kW or 160 kW motors and more torque than any competitor. That means it can carry up to 1,100 kg and tow up to 2,000 kg. 4

We’ve also made E-Transit Custom’s cargo volume and cab space better than the Transit Custom model it replaces. 4 Drivers can now slide across to the passenger door so they don’t need to get out into moving traffic. Large doors and a lower floor help drivers to load items easily and fit more into the load area, and an overall height under two metres improves access to garages and loading bays.

The van is packed with smart thinking to make work easier. Mobile Office turns the cab into a workspace with a steering wheel that folds to become a device holder or desk. Delivery Assist automates little tasks like closing windows and locking doors to help save time and improve security when delivering 500 parcels a day.

On-the-go support comes from a standard 5G modem offering superfast connectivity to Ford Pro. And our Ford Power-Up software updates can improve E-Transit Custom’s capability over time, while the maintenance and health alerts from our FORDLiive system can slash downtime by up to 40 per cent to help keep vans out at work rather than in the workshop.

Our all-new E-Transit Custom will be built by Ford Otosan in a state-of-the-art factory in Yenikoy, Turkey, and is due to start production in autumn 2023.

2 Officially homologated driving range will be published closer to on-sale date. In accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). A range of up to 380 km published range (intended target value according to WLTP) can be achieved with a fully charged battery - depending on the existing series and battery configuration. The actual range may vary due to various factors (e.g. weather conditions, driving style, route profile, vehicle condition, age and condition of the lithium-ion battery).

3 According to an August 2022 report by the Centre for Economics and Business Research estimating the economic activity in van-related industries across seven national markets, plus the EU. Commissioned by H+K Strategies and Ford Motor Company.

4 Max payload and towing varies and is based on accessories and vehicle configuration. See label on doorjamb for carrying capacity of a specific vehicle. Cargo and load capacity limited by weight and weight distribution.

5 Estimated reduction per year based on (1) customer promptly responding to vehicle health alerts in FordPass Pro/Ford Telematics (to help avoid roadside assistance call-outs) and (2) anticipated time saved using Ford Transit Centres for maintenance and repair (including Express Services). Actual reduction may depend on individual circumstances (e.g. driving style and vehicle use).
