Team Fordzilla P1 race car gets experimental new look

Our Team Fordzilla P1 race car – the first vehicle to be created in collaboration by designers from an automaker and the gaming community – has evolved once more with an experimental new reflective orange paint.

From its first debut as a virtual render to its reveal as a full-scale model just three months later, we’ve continued to push the evolution of the project, turning it into a gaming simulator and more recently adding the ability to live stream races from it.

Throughout that evolution it has featured four different paint schemes, yet this latest is our most experimental yet, using a process that involved a lot of trial and error. The result is a reflective orange paint finish that interacts with light and the surroundings in an almost unreal way.

We’ll be showing it for the first time in Alkmaar in the Netherlands at an event with esports venue hosts Racesquare. Hopefully gamers will not only be able to get themselves in the driver’s seat they’ll also be able to see themselves in the reflections too.
