New cloud-connected Focus can keep itself – and its owners – up to date

In an increasingly connected world, a connected car can make life easier in lots of ways.

Our new Focus family car uses its next-generation SYNC 4 1 and FordPass Connect 2 technologies to keep drivers informed about anything from real-time traffic jams or obstacles in the road ahead, to attempted break-ins.

The car can even download software updates over the air to help improve functionality over time and reduce the need for repair trips. And advanced speech recognition combines on-board data with Internet searches for quick, accurate responses to commands for everything from entertainment, phone calls and text messages to climate control and weather information.

The enhanced connectivity – supported by a 13.2-inch screen that’s bigger than in any car of its kind 3 – is one of a range of features that make owning and driving our new Focus easier and more enjoyable than ever.

EcoBoost Hybrid powertrains are designed to save you fuel 4 while boosting the fun-to-drive appeal that has helped make previous generations of Focus so popular. A new seven-speed automatic transmission is now offered as part of an electrified powertrain, making light work of city or stop-start traffic.

Also making busy roads less stressful to navigate are new driving technologies that can monitor your blind spots and steer the vehicle away from potentially dangerous lane changes, 5 and detect potential collisions with oncoming vehicles when turning across traffic and automatically apply the brakes. 5

Driving in low-light conditions is also easier with headlight technologies that change the beam pattern according to road signs, road layouts and even weather conditions. 5

You’ll easily spot our new Focus on the road thanks to bolder, more expressive exterior design for both the five-door and the wagon body styles, including distinctive LED headlights. Each of the variants, including the stylish Titanium, sporty ST-Line and SUV-inspired Active, has unique styling elements that express their individual personalities. Vignale packs can be added to each variant for greater luxury.

There are changes inside too, including a user-friendly loadspace for the wagon models with carpet that’s easier to clean, better lighting and a wet zone for muddy boots and umbrellas.

For performance driving fans, we’ve also unveiled our new Focus ST model. It’s the most powerful Focus in the line-up with a 280 PS EcoBoost petrol engine, 4 as well as optimised suspension, steering, braking and cornering technologies like an innovative electronic limited-slip differential. Like the rest of the Focus range, it has bold new styling – this time emphasising its high-performance character with unique grilles, vents and spoilers.
