Horsebox, ambulance or recovery truck? Probably all three! Our new Transit is ready for action
Our commercial vehicles are built to move all kinds of cargo, and our latest Transit variant is designed to be adaptable and hard-working.
We’ve added tougher axles, wider tyres, stronger panels and uprated brakes to handle even heavier loads. That means it’s not just an even stronger version of the standard Transit van, but also is the ideal basis for a bespoke conversion to support specialist customers such as the emergency services or construction and transport industries.
The new 5.0-tonne Transit is offered in two body styles, two cab sizes, three wheelbases and four overall lengths. Customers can work with converters from our network of over 160 Qualified Vehicle Modifiers in 13 countries to design and build anything from simple shelving inside their van to a complete luxury bus conversion.
A FordPass Connect1 modem gives Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 10 mobile devices up to 15 metres from the vehicle -- perfect for a minibus conversion. The modem can also send data straight from the van to our apps designed to help companies with maintenance and operation.
On the move, our SYNC 32 information and entertainment system makes it simple to access music, communicate with customers or depots, and find the fastest route to the next job. Customers can also specify a device linking the base vehicle and conversion to help safety and productivity - for example, by not allowing a tipper body to operate unless the vehicle is parked and with the handbrake on.
1 Features may require activation
2 Don’t drive while distracted. Use voice-operated systems when possible; don’t use handheld devices while driving. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.
