Boosting connectivity for all our customers

Connectivity helps our customers to thrive, which is why we’ve made a wide range of connected vehicle features and services complimentary or standard for owners of our passenger and commercial vehicles across Europe.

The FordPass Connect modem wirelessly connects our vehicles to the internet. Already standard on passenger vehicles, FordPass Connect will now be fitted in the vast majority of our commercial vehicle line-up too. FordPass Connect connected services, which enable a variety of remote productivity and convenience features, have also been made complimentary for both passenger and commercial vehicle owners, no longer requiring a subscription after the initial two-year trial.

One of the most exciting features to make use of this always-on connected vehicle technology is the FordPass smartphone app, which enables owners to check on vehicle health including fuel and oil levels, as well as lock or unlock vehicle doors and, on many models, remotely start the engine to climatise the cabin.

Further features for owners of electrified vehicles, such as our new Ford Kuga Plug-In Hybrid SUV or the Transit Plug-In Hybrid, include information about battery level and electric driving range, feedback on energy recaptured through regenerative braking and a convenient charging station locator.

Tailored to the needs of our small business customers, the FordPass Pro smartphone app additionally lets owners manage, monitor and control up to five vehicles from a single phone screen. Regular over-the-air (OTA) software updates will also deliver new features and quality enhancements to commercial vehicle owners.

Among the new features being enabled by an OTA this year Ford Pass Pro Guard Mode, a real-time heightened security system that will alert drivers and owners of small fleets about any potential security breaches within their vehicles via their smartphones.
