Ford’s ‘Go Electric’ Roadshow Makes Electrification Simple

By the end of 2022 we expect more than half of the passenger vehicles we sell to be electrified.

From our Fiesta hatchback to our large Transit van, we’re using a range of different electrification technologies to improve fuel efficiency or deliver zero-emission driving.

But do consumers know which type of electrified vehicle is the right choice for them? Or how often they might need to charge? Or even how to charge at all?

We’ve created a new Go Electric roadshow to help customers make an informed transition to electrified vehicles. Hands-on, engaging activities will de-mystify electrification and inspire confidence in consumers – 40 per cent of whom claim to have little or no knowledge of electric vehicles.1

Go Electric launches at London’s famous Marble Arch, where we’ll also be revealing the all-new Mustang Mach-E all-electric SUV.

Mustang Mach-E is one of 18 electrified passenger vehicles we’re introducing for customers by the end of next year and one of the all-electric and plug-in hybrid models that will be backed by an industry-leading charging ecosystem.

We’ve announced plans to introduce 1,000 charging stations at Ford facilities across Europe during the next three years to make charging simple and convenient for employees.

We are a founder member and shareholder in the IONITY consortium that aims to build 400 fast-charging stations in key European locations by the end of this year.

And we will give customers access to the largest network of public charging stations in Europe. Customers will be able to use the FordPass app to locate, navigate to, pay for and monitor charging at more than 125,000 FordPass Charging Network locations in 21 countries.

Mustang Mach-E customers who place a reservation in this year will even receive a free 1-year subscription to FordPass app services that enable users to effortlessly utilise FordPass Charging Network locations, paying for charging services from a single account.2

At the Go Further launch in London we called on governments, industries and institutions to support the push for electrification with faster expansion of public charging infrastructures.

Stuart Rowley, president, Ford of Europe:
“Infrastructure is critical to helping consumers have the confidence to go electric, but we can’t do it on our own. Accelerated investment by all the key stakeholders across the U.K. and Europe is more important than ever.”

1 The survey was conducted by global research and analytics consultancy, PSB in June 2019 covering 3,000 people across Europe, USA and China between June 6 and June 14. European sample covers 200 respondents from each of United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Italy
