Ford employees look on in horror as Henry Ford takes a swing at the boot of his own car with an axe. No, he hadn’t lost the plot, he was demonstrating the dent-resistant properties of plastic body panels.
Ford liked to get hands on with his demonstrations, whether it was test-driving his early vehicles, or putting new materials to the test.
Spectators would have been well advised to keep their distance on this occasion, as the axe he used was known to regularly fly out of his hands.
It’s good to be the boss.
