Team Fordzilla’s youngest gears up for Gran Turismo finals

This weekend our Team Fordzilla racer, Abel Torres, is competing in the finals of the Gran Turismo Spanish Championship. What makes this particularly special is that Abel is just 10-years old and beat over 500 other racers to claim his place; the average age of those other racers was over 30-years old.

With only 12 slots available in the finals – and half of those already reserved for professional drivers – Abel was able to prove that age is no barrier to success when it comes to sim racing. He competed against 14 other racers who made it through the previous qualifying rounds to finally secure a ground-breaking place in the championship finals.

Jose Iglesias
, our Spanish Team Fordzilla captain, after Abel qualified.
This is sim racing history. Never ever, in the whole world, has a 10-year-old boy achieved what Abel has achieved this weekend."
The finals start this Friday with Round 1, where the 12 finalists will compete in two races. Round 6 in March will host the last two races of the twelve-race championship, and Abel will be hoping to continue showing the world what a kid can do against much older and more experienced racers. Based on his past performances his fellow competitors may be in for a shock.
