Now your car can learn what you like

Many drivers get to know their cars like close companions over time – but just how well do our cars know us?

Our next-generation SYNC in-car system will now learn from drivers’ behaviours and routines. Go to the gym every Friday? Call home on the way back from work? SYNC’s machine learning tech helps make the right navigation and communication suggestions at the right time.

This intelligent conversational assistant is just one of the features of our new communication and entertainment system that we showcased to European media at a special virtual event this week.

The next-generation SYNC system makes its debut in our all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E, and features a 15.5-inch touch display, complemented with a signature physical volume dial. Several applications can appear on the screen at once and the interface has been reimagined so drivers are never more than a touch or two away from any information, application or setting they need.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come preinstalled at no extra cost, with both now featuring cable-free connectivity for effortless on-the-go access to your favourite smartphone apps. Next-generation SYNC is geared-up to support electric vehicle owners too, advising when and where to charge on journeys, providing access to real-time charging station availability and pricing.

Then there’s the brand-new connected navigation system featuring live information from the likes of TomTom and Garmin to help drivers avoid hold-ups and re-route around traffic. The system can even provide on- and off-street parking space availability to cut time looking for somewhere to leave your car.

Our new over-the-air software updates ensure our vehicles evolve and improve over time, wirelessly delivering new features, quality and performance enhancements throughout the vehicle. Updates can be applied in less than two minutes, and owners can choose when they install to avoid delaying their journey.
