It’s ‘Oscar’ number 11 for Ford's compact petrol engine

Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine has added an eleventh International Engine and Powertrain of the Year award to its ever-expanding collection.

Compact, powerful and fuel-efficient, the trend-setting petrol engine was named 2019’s best in the Sub-150 PS category by a panel of 70 judges from 31 countries.

The latest version for models including our Focus family car and Transit Connect van can shut down part of the engine when it’s not needed, to help keep fuel bills lower for drivers.

And even after 11 International Engine and Powertrain of the Year victories, the best could still be yet to come from the 1.0-litre EcoBoost. It plays a big part in the future line-up of electrified vehicles announced earlier this year at Ford's special Go Further event in Amsterdam.
